Biketoberfest – Saturday, October 18th in Fairfax
Friday, October 17th, 2008Looking for some outdoor fun this weekend that involves bikes, bands and brews? Look no further than Fairfax, the host of this year’s Biketoberfest – a celebration of the bicycle for cyclists of all ages. The “stationary” part of the festival happens at the FairAnselm Plaza parking lot (at 765 Center Blvd), but it wouldn’t be a celebration of the bicycle without group road and mountain bike rides.
What can you expect from the fest? Live music, excellent brews (from 11 NorCal brewers), great food, new bikes to test drive, family fun (including a bike rodeo), drawings, a classic bike show featuring lots of vintage bikes and a beer tasting to benefit bicycle advocacy in Marin County.
The event runs from 11am-6pm, but the group rides go out as early as 10am. For full details, visit the official Biketoberfest website.
Bike Broadway bike ride a huge success
Friday, October 10th, 2008Couple weeks ago on a typically awesome sunny day here in Oaktown about 20 folks gathered for WOBO’s ride from Jack London to Lake Temescal to check out the Bike Broadway corridor – here about challenges we face to getting it done and how we all get help to overcome those challenges.
Huge thanks to Chris H. & Mike J. for organizing, to our super volunteers, and to MANIFESTO for hosting a rest stop with bevs and snacks along the way. We have almost 20 businesses signed on to support the bike lanes, but we need more! Got one? Email us!

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008big shout out to Isa and Co. for organizing the First Ever OTREK footrace, scavenger hunt, kayaking, historical tour fest-thing Saturday. about 35 folks came out to participate in the event, featuring trips to the Pardee House, Lake Merritt Boathouse, Fox Threater, Heinholds, and the Oakland Library History room among other great spots.
WOBO is lookin forward to helping with the next OTREK, WO-TREK?!
